Our October News

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We’ve had a lovely start to our term, and can’t quite believe we’re in October already.  We have really enjoyed learning all about our new and continuing children this half term, linked to our topic ‘All About Me’.

For our topic next term, we will be looking at, and learning all about Pirates!

A huge thank you to Zoolab for coming in and showing us all the wonderful animals; the children were mesmerised!

HEALTHY LUNCH:

Little Owls follows a Healthy Food Policy.  Please look below for some healthy lunch box options you could provide your child with.  Food has a huge impact on how a child behaves and their ability to focus on activities.

COMMITTEE NEWS:

Welcome back to all our Little Owls and their families and welcome to all our new families.  Little Owls has recently changed its legal status meaning that we are still a charity and we can still fundraise but we are now a CIO (Charitable Incorporated Organisation).  If you would like more information about our change of legal structure please contact cath_mason@hotmail.com

The trustees of the new CIO are myself, Cassie Schofield, Sarah Edwards and Mandy Steele, soon to be joined by Jazmine Walker.  The Trustees have independent control over, and legal responsibility for, the CIO’s management and administration. They play a very important role that contributes significantly to the provision of early years education and the well being of your children.

Little Owls now has a membership structure. Our members are the families, individuals and organisations that support our purposes and wish to have a say as to how we achieve our purposes through our work. Our members have no financial liability to contribute towards the assets of the CIO if it is wound up. Each family that has a child registered to attend our childcare provision is entitled to Family Membership.

If you are interested in becoming a Trustee or a member of the Little Owls family all the information you need will soon be on our new “Committee” page and we will let you know as soon as this is up and running.

Fundriasing dates for your diary:

Witchampton First School November Fair Saturday 18th November 2pm-4pm (TBC)

Little Owls families are encouraged to attend this wonderful pre Christmas fair and fundraiser for the First School.  Little Owls will be there manning the BBQ and serving up sausages on sticks and hot dogs.  If you can spare half an hour to help out on the day or come along and support us please contact Sarah Edwards sarahaustin@hotmail.co.uk

Spring Fashion Show with Travelling Trends (early May date TBC)

After a hugely successful show last year, Travelling Trends are back with all the latest fashions to wow the Witchampton crowds.  We will be on the hunt for models and as well as punters and helpers on the night.  All funds raised from ticket sales will go straight to Little Owls as will any profits from the raffle and a small percentage of income from clothing sales on the night.

“Open Farm Sunday” 10th June 2018

This is a hugely important fundraiser for us.  We need cakes and bakes and most of all we need hands on so please put this date in your diary.

Thanks everyone!

GOODBYE CLARE:

Lastly, and most importantly we say our goodbyes to Clare at the end of this half term.  We are very sad to see Clare go, and we wish her every success and happiness in her future adventures.  Thank you so much for being such a valuable member of the Little Owls team.

Jazmine, Wendy, Clare and Lowena
